Microsoft Outlook Express & Outlook Configuration

These instructions assume that you are running Outlook Express.  If you have Microsoft Office 97 or 2000 installed, you  might  be using Outlook, which shares similarities with the Outlook Express program.

  1. Double click on Outlook Express.  A window may appear asking you for a mail

folder location.  Click OK to select the default location.

(If a setup wizard appears, click Cancel to exit it.  We want to configure your settings

       manually.)

  1.  You should now be back at the Outlook Express main screen.  Find the Tools menu, click on it, and find Accounts.  Click on Accounts.  Click the Mail tab.
  2. Find the Add button, and choose Mail.
  3. At the Display name prompt, enter your full name.  This name will appear on outgoing email you send to other people on the Internet.  Click on Next.
  4. Enter your email address in the Email address box.  Then click on Next.
  5. Both your incoming (POP3) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers will need to be set to mail.eonet.net.  Once you have them entered, click on Next.
  6. Your POP account name should already be entered in the next box you see under Logon using but you need to add the “@eonet.net so that your entire email address is in that box.  Type the password you use for mail and/or logging onto the Internet in the box provided (click Save Password if you desire) and then click  NEXT.
  7. Click on Finish and your mail configuration will be complete.  Select Send and Receive from the toolbar menu, and any mail that you have to be downloaded from our server will be retrieved by you computer.

Your basic Internet capabilities have been configured.
