This verse was inspired following a conversation with my Teacher about the dynamics of a meditation group exercise. Meditation Chorale
A meditation group is like a choir,
each voice important to the whole.
For with only one voice
the song may be beautiful,
But does not a choir make.
Each voice blends into the whole
so the sounds of the chorus are as one.
No one voice is heard above the other.
No one's rhythm is out of sync.A meditation leader,
like a choir director
leads and unifies the group,
so each one feels the rhythm
and pulse as a whole.
Each participant feeling
the rhythm and breath
as one undulating wave becoming
the divine instruments of wondrous music. Each one's vibration
perfectly balanced and reasonating
so the octaves ring
through each note or word,
creating a wave of vibrational overtones
that penetrate the very center of each being.
Just as a choir practises together,
a group so does, who meditates together,
Improving their abilities, becoming unified,
Feeling each word, each note together,
Sensing each pause, each breath, as one
complete within the universal harmony
of an orchestrated masterpiece. And when the song, the meditation, is finished,
there is felt the joy of belonging to the whole,
and a sadness of its coming to an end.
But the feeling of oneness remains
embracing each one present.
