Buried Treasure

As I was walking my path today,
My eye caught the light of something,
Barely showing through the sand.
As I looked a little closer,
Something glistened through
Exposing more of the beauty hidden from view.

What is this?
I asked myself
As I felt my heart leap within.
On the surface it looks ordinary
But its beauty has been covered
Hidden away from view.

As I touched it and drew it to my chest,
The sands of illusion fell away.
What I found was a precious gem,
A treasure that was lost but now is found,
A reunion with a long lost friend.
Now tears of joy fall down my cheeks
As I embrace the one called Ann.
